SALONE DEL GUSTO
2006 EDITION
The "Aula Dolce Amaro" initiative has been developed for children, and features both lessons and games to help children understand and taste what we eat. The itinerary set up inside the hall was in three stages: the first stage was shopping in the market area, where children were able to learn how to recognize and identify the appearance, fragrance and consistency of the fruit, before proceeding to the taste workshop, where they were able to taste the fruit and vegetables. Finally the children were able to express their creativity by helping the cooks to prepare tea using the products and fruit combinations.

THE MOVING VEGETABLE GARDEN

Battaglio has decided to be a Slow Food partner as it firmly believes in the "Vegetable garden on the move" project. It being a simple and highly effective way of transmitting to young people an appreciation for the land and its cycles, and an insight into cultivation methods, and a passion for natural and wholesome products; it is also a unique opportunity to get an insight into products through a series of educational initiatives. The project first originated in Italy in 2003, and now numbers approximately 80 vegetable gardens which will increase to about a hundred by the end of 2007.
